HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - One man is dead after a single vehicle accident in Harrison County.
The accident happened just after 1:00 Sunday morning at the Intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 1054. A Harrison County sheriff's deputy said a man in a pickup truck driving along Highway 36 went off the side of the road as he rounded a curve and down into a ditch, plowing through a communications box. The coroner pronounced the driver, Daniel Kearns, dead at the scene. Investigators did not immediately release a cause for the crash.
"It looks like a war zone now," said Leif Morgan, who owns a home nearby.
Morgan has lived at a house right next to that curve for a few months.
"Came home to another wreck in this bad curve here," he said. Morgan says that curve can be dangerous during rainy weather.
"Every time it rains, you will hear people sliding, you know, it's every time," Morgan said.
The tire tracks from Sunday's crash go right past a memorial for someone else who died in the area.
"I don't who it is. I know they're here every couple of months. Like I said, it's sad to see another death in this curve," Morgan said.
Power and communications crews were out repairing lines Sunday morning. They said it could be a few days before that telephone box is repaired.
