ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- Two people are dead and three others injured after a car crash on the Bluegrass Parkway in Anderson County, near the Mercer County line.
Traffic is now moving on Bluegrass Parkway, at mile marker 52, but the investigation into what happened in the crash is far from over.
"I was trying to save them, trying to help them. The doors were jammed and all mangled up and I couldn't get them open. I couldn't get but one door open on the vehicle," said Danny Keith, who ran to help the victims.
Keith says he didn't see the crash happen, but instantly ran to help in the aftermath.
The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Friday.
What Keith found when he got to the pickup wedged under a semi trailer.. Up to the pickups dash.. He says.
He continued to describe that there were four young kids trapped inside. Two were trying to get out, and he was able to get them out. The other two were pinned and one couldn't breathe so Keith says he cut the seatbelt off with a pocket knife.
One of the four teens inside the pickup was pronounced dead on the scene according to the coroner.
The three others teens, along with the semi driver, were taken to UK Hospital; one of them by helicopter.
The Fayette County coroner says 17-year-old Jacob Blankenship of Hopkinsville, was later pronounced dead at UK Hospital.
Kentucky State Police say the semi was hauling aluminum rolls.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
