Man rushed to the hospital after being attacked with a hatchet

Police say one person has been rushed to the hospital after being attacked with a hatchet in Bourbon County.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, on Townsend Valley Road, just north of Paris.

Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST the victim was hit in the head with the hatchet.

The victim's wife has identified him as 39-year-old Chris Mitchell. She tells us Mitchell confronted a neighbor about a theft.

She says the neighbor then hit Mitchell in the front of the head with a hatchet. Mitchell was airlifted to UK Hospital. There's no word on his condition.

Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Daniel Carter. He was also taken to the hospital, but police say he will be taken to jail once he's released.
