Operation UNITE encourages kids to be drug free

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Operation UNITE has given some kids in elementary and high school clubs some extra incentives to stay off drugs.

Sixteen of the more than 80 UNITE clubs across the region entered scrap books, videos and projects on why they want to stay drug free. UNITE officials said the winning club will receive $750 in extra funding and a pizza party.

Operation UNITE officials said they wanted to try to create a drug free generation.

“We are having a drug epidemic right now,” said Mikkah Rogers of Operation UNITE.
“There's a real big problem with it so if we can start with the younger kids and get them motivated to make good choices and stay drug free, than we can hopefully end this.”

Officials said they have chosen a winner and will announce the winner in a few days.
