FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A part of Interstate 64 was shut down for about four hours Thursday morning after a Kroger semi driver fell asleep and ran off the road.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says the driver only had minor injuries, but was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He says this is a good reminder to other drivers to drive responsibly.
"It is a nice reminder to make sure you get plenty of rest and focus on driving. Not texting, not Facebooking, not social media, but to focus on driving and what's at hand because we see a lot of crashes with driver inattention and sleep impaired driving," Melton told us Thursday.
All of the frozen items on the semi were loaded off by local inmates and will be given to charities in Franklin County.
