WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One business owner in West Liberty has asked for donations to bring back a downtown theater.

“Towne Cinema" on Main Street had been there for nearly four decades before it was torn apart after the Mar. 2 tornado outbreak.

Owner Chris Ball said he does not own the building, but all the equipment was taken away by Mother Nature.

Ball did not have insurance and said he wants to bring the theater, which was undergroud, back to Morgan County.

“We got to have something,” said Ball.
“We want to provide a place for our kids to have something to do in the evenings because right now there's absolutely nothing, nothing in West Liberty, nothing for the youth to do.”

Ball said he has talked to Sony and Gold Medal to get discounts on concession and movie equipment. He said it could cost nearly a million dollars to rebuild and he has thought about relocating the theater. To donate, call or go to the Bank of the Mountains in West Liberty or search “Towne Cinema” on Facebook.
