LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An exit ramp on New Circle Road was closed for hours Tuesday after a truck hauling buckets of paint lost some of its load.
The accident occurred on the inner loop ramp from New Circle Road to Versailles Road. The actual spill was on the exit ramp 5B.
The spill and closure of that exit ramp caused some traffic woes for people traveling on New Circle Road near Versailles Road.
Pecco, which is an environmental clean-up company out of Nicholasville, were called to the scene to clean-up the more than 100 gallons of black barn paint.
The truck driver, Raymond Greer, tells us he was taking the load of barn paint to Bardstown when 10 to 15 percent of his load slid off. Several of the buckets hit the guard rail and busted open while others rolled down the hill unharmed.
"It wasn't as bad as it looked like it was. It was just all right there on the guard rail. The buckets that hit the guard rail are the ones that busted," said Greer.
The driver says the paint isn't hazardous and was supposed to be used to paint a farm fence.
At midnight, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported the ramp was still closed.
