Paintsville business owner restrains robber in her store

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - An Eastern Kentucky businesswoman says she wasn't going to let a robbery suspect get away without a fight.

Anita Watts, owner of children's consignment shop "Mudpyz n' Butterflyz" in Paintsville, says she was in the store's back room with another employee when they heard a loud noise.

She says she went to the front of the store and saw Misty Mollette, stealing from her cash register.

Watts says she's tired of people thinking it's ok to steal and so she confronted the thief.

When she did, Watts says the thief came at her, and that's when she tackled her to the ground while the other employee called the police.

Watts held the woman down until the police arrived.

Police say they also found merchandise from the store in Mollette's pocket. She's charged Mollette with robbery and public intoxication and lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
