Pair pleads not guilty in Martin Co. triple murder

MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A couple accused of murdering an eastern Kentucky family answered to the charges against them on Thursday morning. Jack Smith and Amanda Bowen pleaded not guilty in a Martin County courtroom.

State Police say the pair shot and stabbed the victims, then set their home near Inez on fire last month. The victims were Cainie Johnson, Jr., his wife Tina Goble and her eight-year-old granddaughter Trinity Maynard.

Amanda Bowen will be moved to the Floyd County Detention Center from the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center because officials do not want her to have any contact with Smith.

The pair will be back in court on December 4.
