How will Governor Beshear's proposed state budget affect the University of Kentucky? That was the focus of a panel discussion Tuesday night in the UK Student Center.
The panel included leaders of UK's finance, economics, and public administration programs. UK President Eli Capilouto has said the University could have to trim as much as $19 million, based on the proposed budget. Willaim Hoyt, Director of UK's Martin School, says the University could have to make some tough choices.
"Public support is going to be shrinking in the relative share of the budget for the University of Kentucky as well as other public universities across the nation. And that's something i think UK will have to address."
Members of the panel said they hoped Tuesday night's discussion gave UK students and others who attended an idea of what goes into making a budget.
