Look for storms to increase from the west the rest of the afternoon. Heavy rain, strong winds and lightning are the main threats.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County coroner says one person has been killed in a crash on Interstate 64 in Lexington.
The crash happened around 2:20 p.m. Friday near the 71 mile marker, close to the Fayette-Scott County line.
Police say the driver of a car heading westbound on I-64 somehow lost control, crossed the median, and hit another car heading east.
One person was killed in the crash, and four other people suffered serious injuries, according to police.
The name of the person killed has not been released.
"We believe that this person is from out of town," Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said. "Right now, it's hard to tell if it was male or female."
The Lexington Police accident reconstruction unit was called to the scene. Traffic on eastbound I-64 was tied up for hours after the crash.
Ginn says the man who died was 34-years-old and lived out of state. He is still working for notify next-of-kin.
