The cold front is now working into eastern Kentucky with winds gusting to near 40mph at times. Temps have dropped into the 30s behind the front and we've had reports of sleet and snow mixing with the rain in Lexington.
LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (AP) - A stretch of the Bluegrass Parkway in central Kentucky will be closed overnight Monday and again Tuesday night while workers demolish a bridge that crosses the parkway.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the parkway closure will last from 8 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the next day. The six-mile stretch is between Lawrenceburg and Springfield, and motorists must detour using Exits 42 and 48, via Kentucky 555, U.S. 62 and Kentucky 53.
The project will require Fairview Church Road on the Washington-Anderson county line to be closed for 75 days starting Monday. The bridge will be torn down and a new bridge constructed.
The cabinet says the entire project is expected to be finished by December.
