LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A special ride home today for a marine returning to Kentucky from Afghanistan.

Patriot guard riders greeted Chief Warrant Officer Steven Sparkmen, when he arrived at Blue Grass Airport this afternoon, and escorted him back to London.

He says the welcome surprised him.

"He said, 'You're going down the escalator, welcome home!' So, I went down and that's when I saw everyone standing there."

Chief Warrant Officer Sparkman went to Afghanistan in February.
