Three months later, the rebuilding process and restoring life to normal is slow. But many are doing the best they can, one step at a time.

"Well you had fences as long, and barns in the field, building across the road," said Johnie Green.

As he remembers the views he once had, he looks at the work that lies ahead.

"Slow process, but we're still hammering at it. We got our lives, that's the main thing," Green said.

A teacher in the Magoffin County School System, auctioneer, and farmer, Green is used to wearing many hats. Add renovator to the list.

"Roof was gone, the sheet rock had fallen down everything was wet. Of course it was raining. And everything was destroyed nearly, on the inside. But it's slowly coming back together," said Green while looking at the unfinished interior of his home.

"Starting to see a little bit of daylight, even though it was pretty dim there for a long time. It's coming together slowly but surely," Green added.
