For lots of people on this triple-digit day, the splashing of water at the Woodland Park pool was the sound of sweet relief.
"With the temperatures as high as they are, this is probably the best place to be. You want to be somewhere where there is water so you can at least cool off," said Crystal Morton.
Morton wasn't the only person who had that idea as Woodland Pool was packed.
"It is a big crowd, but it's fun. It's exciting! I mean, the more, the better," she said.
Most people chilled out in the cool water, but others took a slightly different approach.
"Me and a couple buddies is just out here playing tennis and enjoying the weather," said Jake Fairchild.
Fairchild said he wouldn't let some hundred-degree temperatures stop him from having a good time.
"God blesses us with the weather, so I figured I'd get out here and enjoy it! It beats sitting in the house!" he said.
Morton said she couldn't believe anyone would do that much exercise on this hot a day.
"I think that's a bit too much! It's too hot for tennis!" she said.
But Jake says they are being careful.
"We got a couple of water bottles and there's a water fountain by the bench so we're staying hydrated," he said.
The City of Lexington is offering half-price admission to all pools through Monday.
