The 26th Annual WYMT Whayne Supply Mountain Basketball Classic is in the books, but this year marked a first for the tournament.

The first ever Coach Wayne Martin Leadership Scholarship was presented to Perry Central's Austin Pray.

The award is given to a student who demonstrates strong leadership on the basketball court, in the classroom and in their community.

Pray has been a starter in basketball, football and track throughout high school.

Pray also scored a 32 on his ACT.

"It's a big honor especially to be the first person to ever win it. We went through a lot of different things to be able to fill out the application. I had to get a letter of recommendation from the coach and from a teacher," said Pray who has also been offered a scholarship to play football for the Air Force Academy.

Wayne Martin was a large part of WKYT and WYMT for more than two decades as president and general manager, and he played a major role in starting the WYMT Classic 26 years ago.

"A lot of deserving young people are going to benefit from the sponsors and from the attendance, and it's become such a special event," said Martin.
