Perry Co. woman waiting on life-saving transplant gets heart

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We have an update on a young woman, who has been waiting on a life-saving heart transplant.

Ariana Sumner's family says she learned on Monday that doctors found a heart for her. Sumner underwent transplant surgery at UK Hospital late Monday afternoon.

The Perry County woman, 23, found out she had a heart condition earlier this year when her baby was stillborn.

Sumner later had a stroke and has been at UK Hospital for months.
