Perry County family escaped flash flood

Updated: Fri 8:51 AM, Jul 20, 2012

A Perry County family's home is barely missed by Wednesday night's flash floods, and they say it all happened in a matter of minutes.

Chrystal Slone said, “Me and my little boy here we were crying, panicking because it was just so bad.”

Flash floods hit the Fort Branch community of Perry County, and the Slone family had little time to prepare.

“We actually had stuff packed up and put in our cars and had them out in the highway,” said Slone

The creek behind their home soon became a river during the down pour.

Now Slone and her family are left to clean up the mess.

“We've worked all morning here the culvert's gone it washed all the gravel away the road's breaking off and the bank down behind my house is breaking off,” said Slone

She says the thought of starting over, is strongly weighing her mind; saying “we're actually at the point that we're planning to move from here next year.”
