Petition aims to save old buildings

Posted: Mon 6:14 AM, Feb 04, 2013

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Preservationists are circulating a petition in an effort to persuade county officials to renovate and reuse two historic downtown buildings in Richmond.

The Richmond Register reports that members of the Madison County Historical Society started the petition last month during a meeting at which they also passed a resolution to ask Fiscal Court to create a committee that would review ways the county-owned buildings could be used.

The Miller House and the Old Creamery sit on the downtown square northeast of the courthouse.

Preservationists say they are trying to alleviate concerns about the buildings being demolished.
