Phone scam targeting KU customers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An alert after a scam targeting Kentucky Utilities customers.

KU leaders say some customers have received phone calls from someone claiming to be a utility employee who then asks for a bill payment over the phone or in person.

We're told the caller then threatens to cut off electric service if the customer doesn't cooperate.

KU leaders say this is a scam. They say they never call and ask customers for personal financial information.
