Photo exhibit features foster children

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A collection of children's portraits is on display in Frankfort to raise awareness for Kentucky's adoption needs.

The Salt River Trail Heart Gallery is a traveling show featuring professional photographs of Kentucky's foster children awaiting adoption from 17 counties in Kentucky that make up the Salt River Trail Region.

The current exhibition features nine children from the state's Special Needs Adoption Program who are living in foster care.

Photographers from the area donated their time to create the portraits.

The exhibition is one display until Feb. 25 at Paul Sawyier Public Library. Then it moves to Camp Pleasant Baptist Church until March 4, and then it will be shown until March 11 at Commonwealth Credit Union.

This is the sixth installment of the gallery show since it began in 2008.
