Lexington, Ky (WKYT) - A plane had to make an emergency landing at Blue Grass Airport Wednesday morning.

Airport officials tell WKYT United Express flight 5701, operated by ExpressJet airlines, landed safely just before 10:00am. Officials with ExpressJet tell us a second airliner was sent to the airport to pick up passengers and take them on to their final destination.

Flight 5701 left Columbia, South Carolina Wednesday morning, bound for Chicago O'Hare Airport, when the crew discovered hydraulic problems. That's when they say the pilots decided to divert to Lexington, and make an emergency landing. Officials called airport and city fire crews, as a precautionary measure.

Officials with ExpressJet airlines say the airplane was able to taxi back to the gate under its own power. No one was injured in the emergent landing.
