LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating two early morning robberies they say could be connected.
The first happened at the Shell gas station on New Circle and Russell Cave in Lexington.
That's where police say a black man, abouto 5'10" and 130 pounds wearing all black with a white shirt over his face stormed into the store armed with a gun.
The clerk told police the gunman came around the counter and demanded cash and cigarettes.
When the clerk refused, police say the gunman took off on foot.
About an hour later, another robbery was reported, this time at the Shell on North Broadway and New Circle.
In that robbery, the clerk told WKYT the gunman was able to get away with cash.
No one was hurt in either robbery.
Lexington police say the description of both suspects were similar, and could have been the same person.
These are two of five recent robberies on the north side of Lexington.
This crime alert takes us back to last Thursday when the Red Roof Inn off North Broadway was targeted for the second time in recent history, by a suspect wearing all black and a red bandana over his face.
Then, on Saturday, both the Donatos on New Circle and Days Inn on North Broadway were robbed.
Right now police are looking at the Shell stations and Days Inn as possibly being related.
Investigators believe the Red Roof Inn incidents could be tied together, and the Donatos could be separate from the rest.
