Police: 120 officers ready for celebration

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville Metro Police and University of Louisville campus police plan to have about 120 officers on the streets as the school's women's basketball team plays the University of Connecticut for the national championship.

Police Col. Kenton Bucker says the officers will be centered near campus, the Fourth Street Live downtown entertainment area, a stretch of bars in the Highlands neighborhood and in the western part of Louisville.

About 30 people were arrested Monday night after the men's basketball team defeated the University of Michigan for the national title. Police used pepper spray to disperse a crowd near campus around 1:30 a.m.

Buckner says the lesson learned from Monday's experience is officers need to be flexible and tolerant as people celebrate.
