Police: Frankfort cab driver drove drunk while on the job

FRANKFORT, KY. (WKYT) - Frankfort Police say they arrested a cab driver for driving drunk while on the job.

Investigators tell us they saw William Maddox, 50, pull into the Eastwood Shell station on Versailles Road while they were there conducting a traffic stop. Police say he went inside and bought a beer. When he came out, we're told he started talking to one of the officers who noticed he was slurring his words and smelled like alcohol.

Police say Maddox failed a field sobriety test and blew a .129 on a Breathalyzer, nearly .05 over the legal limit. They tell us they also found pills on him.

Police arrested Maddox and charged him with several counts, including DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

At the time of the arrest, Maddox was working for Bluegrass Taxi in Frankfort. He was supposed to be filling up the van with gas and bringing it back to the shop to park for the night. The owner of the company says she fired Maddox when she found out about the arrest.
