LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police now call it one of the largest drug busts in Lexington in recent memory.

We've learned new details about a violent home invasion that led to the victims being arrested.

It's a crime we've been tracking since yesterday, that home on White Oak Trace.

The victims Manee Shephard, 23, and Marques Dawson, 27, both face drug charges.

Lexington Police say ion Wednesday morning three masked men busted into the house, bound both Shephard and Dawson, then brutally assaulted Dawson, before leaving.

"We're talking about wounds and cuts from basically the top of his body all the way down to the bottom," said Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for the Lexington Division of Police. "Unfortunately he also suffered some pretty serious burns from a hot iron as well."

Roberts says instead of calling police, Dawson went to St. Joesph's Hospital in Lexington before being transferred to UK hospital. That's when staff there called police.

"Anytime someone shows up at the hospital with those kinds of injuries, the hospital is going to call police," explained Roberts.

According to court documents police seized six-pounds of Marijuana, four-pounds of cocaine and digital scales inside the home.

"What I can say is that it's fairly large and probably one of the largest seizures that we've seen in recent memory," said Roberts.

Police charged Manee Shepard with trafficking both marijuana and cocaine. Marques Dawson was also charged with trafficking marijuana and cocaine as well as for outstanding warrants.

Police say they have yet to identify the three-masked men.
