Police: Lexington home riddled with bullets, woman injured

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) Lexington police say a woman is in the hospital with a gunshot wound, and a home near Georgetown Road is pockmarked with bullet holes after an early-morning shooting on Monday.

Police say the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. when someone shot at a house on Ash St. They believe a shooter, or shooters, either in a car or on the street fired 9 to 10 bullets into the home. They say one of those bullets struck a woman who was inside.

The boyfriend of the victim told WKYT's Sean Evans that she had been shot in the head. He said her injuries weren't very serious, but she did go to UK Hospital.

Orange cones marked the places on Ash St. where the shell casings fell while the shooter or shooters were spraying bullets toward the home. When asked if this shooting is related to the recent spate of violence and shootings at other places near Georgetown Road, police said it was too early to tell.
