Police: Man killed while attempting to break in to Letcher Co. home

GORDON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened after a man attempted to break in to a Letcher County home.

The man killed in the Gordon community was 37-year-old Wayne Duff II of Cumberland, Ky.

Duff was attempted to break in to James Brown's home when the two got into a verbal altercation, according to investigators. After Duff tried to approach Brown, investigators say Brown shot Duff in the chest.

Duff was pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher County coroner.

Investigators say no charges have been filed at this time and the case will be turned over to the Letcher County Grand Jury.
