LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - For a high-schooler, your smartphone is central to your life.

"My contacts, my pictures, videos, apps," said Elizabeth Haney, listing off the important items in her iPhone.

"I'm going to lose all of that," she said.

Police said a man posing as a Kentucky Eagle Beer employee has been going into bars around town, trying to get behind their counters, and stealing iPhones. On January 26th, police said he hit Cheapside, Atomic Cafe, and an Applebee's. Kentucky Eagle officials said surveillance video showed that man going into Soundbar. They said Soundbar employees questioned him and he ran. Two days later, police said he walked into the Blue Grass Baptist School gymnasium as the girls' basketball team was practicing, claiming their principal had asked him to fix a light.

"So he went in the locker room and then he went in the boys' and then he left and then I went in the bathroom and I went to look at the time and my phone was gone," said Haney.

School officials said the student had $75 sitting with her phone, but for whatever reason, the thief chose to leave that behind, targeting only the iPhone.

Police say in each case, the man has specifically targeted iPhones and other Apple electronics. School officials say because of this incident, they're going to beef up their security.

It's not going to work the next time. Absolutely not," said athletics director, Dewana Robinson.
