Police: Richmond waiter stole customer's card, buys television

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Richmond police arrest a waiter accused of stealing a customer's credit card and using it to buy a television.

Devincent Deteria, 27, is charged with assault and three counts of theft.

Police say Deteria took the card after a customer accidentally left it on her table at the Olive Garden in Richmond.

Police say the victim realized she left the credit card at the restaurant after paying for her meal. She later received a notice informing her that her card had been used at Walmart with a price tag of over $700. The victim went to Walmart and found the suspect pushing a card with a television from the store. She recognized Deteria as the waiter who served her at Olive Garden.

The victim then confronted Deteria, who pushed her to the ground, causing her to injure her shoulder and giving her a bloody nose. Deteria then left the scene with the television in tow.

Deteria was later arrested at his apartment. Police say Deteria told them he returned the television.
