Police say robber punched McDonald's employee in face

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for a man they say held up a Central Kentucky fast food chain.

Police say workers at the McDonald's on Southgate Drive in Georgetown were inside closing for the night when one of them noticed a young black man wearing a ski mask outside the door.

They say the employee locked the door but the man used a cigarette disposal unit to break the window of the door and come inside.

Once inside, police say he demanded cash from the employees and implied he had a weapon, though he never showed one.

"Obviously this is a very traumatic experience for all these workers. There's several workers that you can see there. One of them tries to hide, he sees her, and demands her to get up. So very forceful, kind of like a takeover-style robbery," said Georgetown Police Captain Robert Swanigan.

A K-9 unit tracked the man's scent to a nearby Speedway where they believe he had a getaway car waiting.
