Police: Scammers trying to cash in on fallen officer's funeral

HODGENVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Visitation was held Thursday for a police officer, killed in the line of duty. Meanwhile, police say some are trying to scam others out of money in his name.

Officer Mark Taulbee, 43, died Sunday after he crashed his cruiser during a police chase.

On Tuesday, police say two people made phone calls and tried to solicit donations for Taulbee's funeral.

Investigators say the calls were from scammers, who called from blocked numbers and tried to get money.

Police say if anyone gets one those calls, try to get all the information you can, then call police.
