LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating a reported shooting on Thames Drive, near Armstrong Mill Road and Man O' War.

Police say the shooting victim is a 16-year-old boy who appears to have been meeting someone for a drug deal around seven Wednesday evening. Officers say the teen's friends told them the victim and the shooting suspect got into an argument, and moments later a single gun shot was fired hitting the teen in the leg.

Police say the suspect then ran off.

According to one neighbor, he said he heard the shot and then a car speed away. Investigators say that was the friends who put the injured teen in the car and rushed him to the hospital. Police say his injury is not life threatening.

Meanwhile, at the scene police were able to gather some witness statements and evidence, but they say they aren't getting much help from the teen's friends. At this time, they do not have any description of the suspect.

While many of the neighbors on the 1600 block declined to comment on camera, they all say hearing that someone was shot on their street is quite alarming.

Police say the investigation will continue.
