LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two weeks after a murder outside a nursing home, Lexington police say there has been an arrest in the case.

Investigators say 21-year-old Mauric Ward, Jr. shot and killed 31-year-old Anthony Beaumont, Jr. outside the Northpoint Lexington Healthcare Center.

Lexington police say U.S. Marshals found and arrested Ward Monday afternoon in Shelby County, Tennessee.

Investigators say after days and weeks of investigating, leads they learned that the 21 year old had ties to the Memphis area.

Police would not elaborate on what led up to the shooting that took the life of Beamount that day.

"There are parties involved that did not know one another as to their exact relationships to each other we're not going to go into detail with that or what lead them to that location," Sgt. Pete Ford with Lexington Police told WKYT.

Police say Ward is being held in Tennessee on the murder charge and will eventually brought back to Lexington.

The investigation remains open at this time.
