Police: Somerset man shoved officer after stealing shoes

SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - A father is behind bars after, police say, he shoved an officer while trying to steal shoes.

It happened at the Walmart in Somerset.

Police say Ricky Vaughn put shoes on his children and tried to leave without paying for them. When two officers confronted him, we're told he shoved one of them. They managed to get him under control and arrest him. Police say Vaughn later escaped from the police cruiser and took off running. Officers caught him near the King Buffett restaurant.

Police say they found Suboxone and marijuana on Vaughn.

His charges include:
Unlawful Transaction with a Minor
Resisting Arrest
Robbery Second Degree
Escape Second Degree
Fleeing or Evading Second Degree
Menacing
Promoting Contraband
Possession of Marijuana
Tampering with Physical Evidence
Possession of Controlled Substance Second

He was also charged with a parole violation. He'd been serving at 3-year sentence for receiving stolen property but was paroled in October 2013.
