LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man was arrested after allegedly robbing a gas station of cash and cigarettes and fleeing the scene early Wednesday.
23-year old Christopher Disponette's was arrested at a home on Harrogate Road shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday. Police told WKYT he held up the Speedway station at New Circle Road and Meadow Lane. Disponette is said to have pulled a knife on the clerk and took cash and several packs of cigarettes.
Disponette made his way to a nearby neighborhood and started knocking on doors and asking residents to call him a cab. He told some residents that police were looking for him. One resident called the police. When officers arrived, they arrested Disponette.
Later, police were alerted that Disponette hid the cash he took in the bushes of a home. They returned to the neighborhood and located about $170. Police said they were told about the location of the cash because Disponette called someone from jail and told them about where he put the money. That person called the police.
Disponette is in the Fayette County Detention Center charged with robbery and several other charges.
