Two injured in shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are investigating a shooting near the Catholic Action Center on East Fifth Street, that left two people injured.

The shooting happened around 5:30 p. m. as the center was serving their evening meal. Witnesses say a volunteer at the center, Artie Gibbs, had gone across the street to talk to a friend when the shooting happened.

"I heard five gunshots, it was extremely loud and then we heard sirens," said Keta Mock who lives near the center.

"I came down here and I seen a young man laid out on the ground out here," Mock said.

Gibbs and one other person were shot . Police say both victims have non-life threatening injuries.

Police haven't made any arrests in the case so far and say the victims and witnesses haven't provided much information.
