Police: pregnant woman crashes car into Frankfort home

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say a pregnant woman crashed her car into a home in Frankfort Wednesday night.

"When it happened, I knew somebody had hit something hard," said a neighbor, Ron Douglas Jr.

Police say an officer tried to stop a vehicle for speeding last night. As the officer attempted to make the stop, they say the vehicle turned on to Colonial Trace at a high rate of speed, as if the driver was trying to get away from the officer.

The officer didn't know for sure that the car was fleeing at the time, and didn't act as if he was in a car chase. They say the car didn't stop until it crashed through the wall and into the two car garage.

The driver, Julia Hudson, is seven months pregnant and was treated for minor scratches. A passenger, Joshua Griffin, had minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

"I'm just glad everybody was okay. I would have expected somebody to be hurt pretty seriously," explained Douglas.

Cause of crash is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out.
