A line of strong to severe storms will race across central and eastern Kentucky over the next several hours.
London, Ky. (WKYT) - London Police say that an elderly woman was scammed out of more than $10,000.
According to police, Mary Kidd, an eighty-seven-year old woman hired B & M LawnCare out of East Bernstadt to take care of her lawn.
“We discovered that she had paid over $10,000 in lawn care in a short period of time," says Sgt. Joe Smith, with London Police.
Police talked with another lawn care service, who estimated the job should have only cost $35 each time. But instead over six months, police say the owner's of B & M LawnCare, Robert and Melissa Walker charged more and intimidated her.
"She advised us that the lawn care employees shook a contract in her face and demanded that she pay a cancellation fee and if she didn't pay, they could prosecute and place her in jail, " adds Smith.
After this case, London Police are now looking into the possibility of other victims in the community.
"We are looking for more victims but at the moment, we only have the one," Smith says.
The Walker's were both arrested and charged with exploitation of an adult over $300 and theft by deception.
London Police want others to be on the lookout for scammers, who prey on the elderly.
"These things that seem to be suspicious may not be. But feel free to call law enforcement. We will support you and do whatever we can to investigate. We can put these kinds of people behind bars, if they're actually doing something criminal or wrong," says London Police Chief, Stewart Walker.
