Police say man took gun used in shooting to sell

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville Metro Police have charged a man they say tried to take the gun used in a fatal shooting in order to sell it.

The Courier-Journal reports 29-year-old Charles J. Hill is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the arrest report, Hill told investigators he picked up the shotgun lying next to the body of 34-year-old John Percell and hid the gun nearby so he could retrieve it later to sell.

Police do not believe Hill killed Percell, who died of multiple gunshot wounds at the scene of the shooting.

According to court records, Hill has been charged with 48 other crimes since he turned 18. Those crimes included drug dealing, robbery, assault and fleeing police.
