Police say two victims treated at UK Hospital for gunshot wounds

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating after two people showed up at UK Hospital with gunshot wounds on Friday morning.

Police say they received the call from the hospital around 5:30 a.m. in regards to a female who had been shot in the hand and a male who had been shot in the leg.

Police say the victims stated the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m in the area of Fifth Street and Ohio Street.

The victims told police that a vehicle with unknown suspects inside drove by and started a verbal altercation with them before firing five shots.

Police say they are investigating whether a 'shots fired' call from around 4:30 Friday morning is related to the incident. They say they were able to find shells from several shots that were fired at some point in the area of Ohio Street and Chestnut Street.

Police say the victims were not giving them much information and that they do not have any clear descriptions of the suspects at this time.
