LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for two men who they say went into the Peoples Exchange Bank, at least one of them armed with a handgun, and got away with some money.
Police got the call shortly after 11:00. They say a clerk told them two men in dark hoodies with bandanas over their faces came in and robbed them. They say at least one of them had a handgun.
Police say the two got away with money from a teller's drawer and ran back out. Police are using search dogs, going through backyards hoping to catch a scent.
The robbery comes just about a half hour after an attempted robbery on Versailles Road. Police say two men who also match this description, including guns, tried to go into a cash advance store, but the doors were locked. Police aren't positive they're the same two people, but they're looking into that.
"That's something that were going to try to look at to see if this is the same two people because the descriptions are similar," Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.
Lexington Police released surveillance pictures Wednesday afternoon of the thieves. We've attached that picture for reference.
