Police searching for driver after deadly Lexington hit-and-run

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say they're still searching for a driver who they say hit and killed a motorcyclist over the weekend along Leestown Road.

The crash happened near Masterson Station early Saturday morning. Police say a motorcycle and car collided, then an SUV hit the motorcycle. The rider, 39-year-old Mary Reynolds-Drury, was killed.

Construction is being done in the area, where Leestown Road is being widened. People who live nearby have expressed concern that some of the street lights haven't been on during the overnight hours. Transportation cabinet officials say that's how it has to be for now as they work to widen the road.

"The lights did have to be removed for construction to continue. Pedestrians and also motorists in this neighborhood needs always be careful in daytime and dusk as well as evening hours," says Natasha Lacy, with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Again, police are still searching for the driver of that SUV they say it's dark colored and may be missing part of its bumper.

Transportation Cabinet officials say they're also working on how they'll handle heavy traffic during the Blue Grass Fair later this summer.
