Police believe alcohol is a contributing factor in a crash that killed a teenager.

The accident happened Thursday night, approximately nine miles north of Columbia.

Kentucky State Police say 18-year-old Caleb A. Capps, of Edmonton, was driving north on KY 551 in a 2004 Chevy truck. The truck left the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned several times.

Police say Capps was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Adair County Coroner David Taylor.

A passenger, 18-year-old Jessica Mikel of Louisville, was flown from Westlake Regional Hospital to University of Kentucky Hospital and is in stable condition. Another passenger, 17-year-old Jessica Burba of Louisville, was flown from the scene to University of Louisville Hospital and is listed in serious condition. A third passenger, 18-year-old Antonio Simmons of Radcliff, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Police say Mikel and Burba were not wearing seatbelts.
