Police work two attempted armed robberies minutes and blocks apart

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating a couple of overnight attempted robberies that happened just minutes and blocks apart.

The first happened on Village Drive late Tuesday night.

There, a man told police he was approached by a gunman who got away with his wallet and cell phone.

About 30 minutes later, police say two armed men attacked a man on Jeffrey Court, off Alexandria Drive.

In that case, police say the victim refused to hand anything over. That's when he told police the gunman hit him in the head with the gun and fired a shot into the air.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Police say although the crimes happened in close proximity, there were enough differences to lead them to believe these two crimes are not related.
