Police investigating deadly shooting

COLUMBIA, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Columbia.

Police say the shooting happened Saturday evening when 42-year-old Edward Stickel went to the residence of 60-year-old Ralph Mercer and the two began arguing over a gun purchase. Police say Stickel allegedly pointed a gun at Mercer, who then fired a gun at Stickel killing him.

Police say Mercer called dispatch to report the shooting, and Stickel was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed, but police say they are still investigating the death.
