Police say road debris lead to deadly crash

One person was killed and two were hurt when a driver swerved to miss debris in the road. State Police say the crash happened Sunday night on I-71 North in Carroll County.

Troopers say 56-year-old William Wildeboer of Woodlawn was driving north on I-71, at the 39 mile marker, when he swerved to miss debris in the road. His vehicle went into a ditch and flipped several times. The deputy coroner pronounced Wildeboer dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, 51-year-old Mary Wildeboer of Woodlawn, was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries. A second passenger, 12-year-old Jesse Wildeboer of Woodlawn, was flown to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville with life threatening injuries.

Troopers say everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
