Police call it a threat to your family's money. They need your help finding a woman they say stole bank account information from people in Eastern Kentucky, then used their money to go shopping in Lexington.

She's seen buying gift cards on someone else's dime. Lexington police say the woman somehow got hold of half a dozen credit card numbers from families in Powell County, and then in the course of two and a half hours, spent more than $4,000 on gift cards.

"When you've got this many cards from one bank there's probably a lot more victims from other banks," explained Lexington Police Detective Michael Helsby, "people should check their credit card statements and bank statements regularly. Especially now. We've got a couple credit card compromises going on."

Police say the woman bought at Walmarts, Rite Aids, and a Kroger in Lexington. So far, they've traced the gift cards to the Atlanta, Ga. area, but they're still trying to figure out how she got the bank information.

"We're hoping, maybe put this video out to show the suspect in an attempt to get an ID on her. Maybe someone that's seen her. A cashier that rang her up can maybe give us some more information. Also any banks that have seen a trend like this coming across their server, let us know."

If you do recognize the woman, you can email police at fraud@lexingtonky.gov.
