A Lexington U.S. Postal Service employee is in jail, accused of cashing in on stolen checks.
Court documents show Caryn Hughes is charged with three counts of forgery and one count of theft of mail matter.
Lexington police say on Wednesday, Hughes admitted she stole three checks from the mail and forged the back of each check. Police say Hughes then used the stolen checks to buy more than $300 worth of items from a convenience store.
