Powell Co. boy dies a day after being found unresponsive in swimming pool

POWELL COUNTY, Ky (WKYT) - A three year old Powell County boy has died a day after he was found unresponsive in a pool.

The Fayette County Coroner says Landon Pressnell died early Wednesday morning at the UK Medical Center.

The Powell County Sheriff's Department tells us Pressnell drove his big wheel into an in-ground pool at a home on Frames Branch Road south of Clay City Tuesday morning.

Neighbors and family members tell us his great aunt and legal guardian, Frankie Hall, had been playing with the child outside. Deputies say Hall went inside the house for a short time and when she came out, she couldn't find him.

Police say after searching for about ten minutes, the boy was found unconscious in the pool.

"I kept hearing her yell 'Help!'" explained Loveie Connor, who lives across the street. She witnessed Hall rushing the boy to the front porch where she tried CPR and a neighbor called 9-1-1.

"She kept asking him to wake up," Connor said. "But he did not wake up."

Investigators say EMS workers gave him CPR as they were loading him into the ambulance. He was not breathing when they took him to the hospital

The child was taken to Clark Regional Hospital and later taken on to UK.

The Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the incident. They do not expect to file charges.
